Steam, which recently taken off (and reinstalled) a bunch of EA games from their online shelves due to alleged contractual infringement, is not listed among Battlefield 3′s digital retailers before.
That might have to change soon.
Speaking to Redditor, an EA account representative has confirmed that the upcoming release of Battlefield will be available on Steam after all. It will not be released before the official launch though.

Which means that soon after the initial releases are registered from the launch day takeovers, pre-order pick-ups, etc, the newest series to Battlefield franchise will be stranded on the official Steam download service.
However, the representative to EA didn’t jump into details regarding how extended this period would be, but we can assured that EA has negotiated multiple agreements with every other digital distribution channel to solidify the launch day availability.
So, if you are an avid Steam user and you must have it there, also, if you don’t mind waiting, it seems that you may hit the strides for this one.
Battlefield 3 will be released in October 28th on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
