Valve’s announcement of The International, the beleaguered Dota 2 tournament taking place August 17 to August 21 in Germany. The event will be used as an exclusive first look on everyone takes at the complete overhaul, second edition of the classic and famous Warcraft III custom game, DotA and they looking kick things off with an esports, cash bang.
The company will picked 16 DotA teams from across the globe that will battle themselves in a double-elimination tournament, with the victors will be handed $1 million. That’s one million dollars. You may now jaw dropping yourself.
“The International is the first public Dota 2 event, and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game. I’ve had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.” Gabe Newell, the co-founder of Valve takes on the event.
Gamescom is held in Cologne, Germany and set to be the first public showing of DotA 2.
