Just a week after their anticipated launch, Atlus has claimed Catherine is the company’s largest launch title ever. In comparison to all previous Atlus titles, Catherine has boasts the most units at launch shipped. It’s set a new record in all of Atlus’ 20 years of publishing.
Speaking to IGN, “Catherine has exceeded our highest expectations,” said Tim Pivnicny, VP of Sales and Marketing at Atlus. “It released last week to tremendous critical acclaim and fan response, bolstered by the release of a demo a couple weeks prior, and continues to generate discussion among fans for its mature themes, engrossing subject matter, and frantic, challenging gameplay.
“It is fitting, then, that Catherine can boast the largest launch in the 20-year history of Atlus, and continues to see strong sales at retail.”
However, Pivnicny couldn’t reveal the exact number of sales that Catherine had so far. But, if you’re looking at other Atlus titles, we maybe can eye on hundreds of thousand copies which has been sold for the puzzle-action game.
Catherine hit the shelves on July 26, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (PS3).
