Todd Howard
Now Bethesda gaming studio is joining on the discussion – declaring that gamers should be waiting a considerable amount of time for the PS4 and Xbox 720 – even so long as until 2014.
The comments made by Todd Howard, the director of the studio’s much anticipated blockbuster Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Speaking in an interview with PSM3 magazine, Howard stated that Sony and Microsoft are probably holding-off on moving to next generation hardware – because there’s a small demand from gamers to make the new iteration and that the current power of the consoles is capable of giving a satisfying experience:
“I think it’s going to be a while still, I really do. I think consumers are happy with the current ones, there’s a lot you can do with them [....] So I don’t think it’s coming next year or the year after.”
Recent rumor suggested that Microsoft had been readying to unveil a new console at next year’s E3 conference. As most gaming websites reported in July, Microsoft has the support of AMD – when it comes to the graphical grunt task in their next-gen Xbox. They believe that the next generation Xbox 720 will be able to output amazing graphics, comparable to those seen in blockbuster hit CGI movies such as Avatar which raked in billions in box office.

Great article. I think Microsoft and Sony are beta testing multiple prototype systems at this moment. Nintendo’s new system will definitely debut and steal the show/sales. It’s a proven number 1 system. Nintendo pwns Sony and Microsoft, and I’m a Sony fanboy. It basically comes down to what company is gonna release the best product. Sony has future top secret tech on it’s desk and Microsoft also. I’m patiently waiting because I’m gonna buy the new 720 and Ps4.

I’m not so sure that the Nextbox or PS4 will be so “mind-blowing”. Sony have already publicly announced that gamers should not expect a massive leap in power and that they are focusing on broadening their user base.
They will have to move in the near future, probably by 2014, at the latest, in order to keep a decent foothold in gaming, because the Wii U is a game-changer.
Not because of the new controller, simply because all of those “kiddies” who cut their gaming teeth on a Nintendo machine now do not need to go to Sony or MS’S when they want to change up to mature AAA HD games. they can get all those AAA multi-platform mature games on the Wii U, along with Nintendo’s, world-beating, exclusive content and massively popular back-catalogue.
Plus the added bonus, that the “upgraders” will be able to use all the Wii peripherals that they already own.

Of course he’s going to say that; he has a new game coming out for those systems this year. It’s funny how all the publishers who don’t have anything lined up are all about “We’ve maxed this system” and the ones with releases coming up still think they are relevant for another few years. Statements like these are purely for the stockholders.

to people who think the wii u is a game changer., it barely is! it is about 2x better than a ps3 the ps4 wll be arond 25x a ps3 not like 52x a ps2 a ps3 , the only difference is that wii u runs on a 2008 graphics chip and it cant even axx out bf 3 while the ps3 could easily max out bf 2 hen it was released back then
