According to a report, telecommunication company, Verizon is blocking mobile hotspot tethering for iPhone jailbreak owners who use apps such as the MyWi to break the access of the carrier’s data plans.
An employee at ReadWriteWeb who first noticed the instance, where he was directed to this explanation page by Verizon. The site stated that jailbroken iPhone tetherers need to sign up for one of Verizon’s official mobile hotspot plans.
Verizon is not the only company who did this. This week, AT&T started doing the same thing, threatening users to downgrade unlimited plans if they didn’t stop the free tethering or sign up for a new tethering plan for an extra $20 per month.
