Pissed of waiting for your favorite Japanese, Sony, to release PSOne games for your childish little phone gaming adventure? Well, you can try make it yourself..
Android developer and also has done a little work on the PS3 scene side, Yifan Lu has reverse engineered the Xperia Play’s built in PlayStation 1 emulator so that it would be capable to run ripped PSOne ISOs. This means you can stop acting like you actually enjoy Final Fantasy VII. It has not aged well.
Note that this isn’t something like a beta emulator or some sort, but the real deal from the official Sony guys themselves, which means it should work exactly as you expect it to with all your old favorites, without the bugs and glitches because that what you should expect from something that has been developed by the company who actually created the first PlayStation.
That said, you can now start to find your old PSX, PS1 games, rip them, and then play them on your Xperia Play smartphone. It seems that everything can be work on save for multi-disc games, so no Final Fantasy IX…unless you play it and all your other PSOne releases on a PSP. You might just do that instead of making up the troubles with the ISOs, actually.
