PS3 price cut should make the console sales go through the roof
Reports are coming in that suggest retailers are giving discounts earlier today but now we’re hearing more and more anecdotal evidence that a price cut is imminent and it will be announced at Sony’s press conference this evening at Gamescom in Germany.
The new pricing figure looks like it will be around €239 ($249?) for the 320GB model which we assume will drop to £199 in the United Kingdom. That could bring the slim 160GB model down to under €200 ($199?) and most likely as low as £150, if retailers choose to monetize it as much as possible from the prospective custoemrs.
With a lot of consoles being marked down already, the PS3 price drop announcement, if it indeed comes, is possibly to be one of those “effective immediately” things. Stay tuned as the media will keep you informed of anything official from Sony as we hear it.
UPDATE: Seems that it’s only $249 for base model. Bummer.

My goodness! You couldn’t research the currency exchange of Euros and Yens?

Exchange rate does not imply price point, senor.

Yeah the currency comparison is off but the pricing is right for the U.S. dollar.
