This will not happen after all..

Nintendo has dismissed circulating online reports that a new “facelift” 3DS design is in progress as “rumor” and speculation”.

This came after a French website, 01net reports that this new 3DS model will “radically tone down” the 3D effect and probably will use a different name.

They also claimed that the new model will introduce twin analogue Circle Pads on the device. As for current 3DS owners, they say that Nintendo engineers are “spending many sleepless nights working on an additional device” that would attach to the handheld and retail separately for about $10.

However, Nintendo told ONM UK that “we do not comment on rumour and speculation.”

In the meantime, Andriasang said that Nintendo will be holding a 3DS event on 13 September ahead of the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (TGS) where the Japanese company will be showcasing a big title.

Whatever it is, we’ll just wait for the official announcement from Nintendo themselves.

You don’t follow Nintendo rumors very often, do you? “Nintendo doesn’t comment on rumor and speculation” is the standard response for questions about any rumor ever made about any Nintendo product you could think of, whether it is true or not. This neither confirms nor denies that this rumor is true.
