It’s the characters of familiar casts “we all love” in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 like Soap and Price that gives it the edge over Battlefield 3, says Michael Condrey the VP, and COO of Sledgehammer Games.
Among the most important differences between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and its new rival Battlefield 3, believes Michael Condrey of Sledgehammer Games, is that first person shooter fans are already “invested” in the cast of the classic Activision’s Call of Duty franchise.
When asked directly by NowGamer what makes MW3 better than BF3, Condrey replied: “What I can tell you is people decide. At the foundation of it, we’re looking at doing an authentic story that’s really emotionally involving for the player. We’ll continue the journey on an epic world scale now. I think it’s pretty interesting in that these are characters we all love.”
“I think that’s unique to Modern Warfare,” Condrey said. “We’re all invested in who these characters are. We’ve watched them for six years now, so continuing that journey will be great.”
It’s already been said that events in MW3 will follow directly on from Modern Warfare 2, with Captain John “Soap” MacTavish, Captain John Price and Russian informant Nikolai all returning in what should be an epic war.
In other related note, he did not singled out Battlefield 3 as their sole competitor to Modern Warfare 3 as he has mentioned Naughty Dog’s upcoming shooter.
“I think the industry is healthy and there are a ton of fans out there who love games and great content. And I’m a fan. At the root of my passion for games, I’m a fan. I think there’s fantastic stuff for everyone. Uncharted 3 looks great, right? I’m glad to see that.”
The game’s out in November 8 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Battlefield already won

If you honestly think MW3 will be better than BF3, then you have no taste in games. I’ve played all of the CoD games and have only rented Battlefield:BC2, and that was enough for me to know that BF3 will destroy MW3. Call of Duty games have bad graphics, CHEAP pop-gun sounding weapon sounds, and repetitive gameplay with no mission.
If I wanted to run and gun, I’d choose MW3. If I wanted to sneak through a firefight to steal an enemy jet or helicopter just to destroy the enemies camping spot, I’d choose BF3. MW3 is like a video game, BF3 is like going to war.
