It has been known for a while that the upcoming military shooter will be running at just 1280 x 704 resolution, which as we all know not up to the par of the basic HD, the 720p.
DICE rendering architect Johan Andersson revealed the news 2 days ago, and he said the reason behind of the “untrue” HD is because they want to increases performance and saves memory.
But unlike most games that run at a lower resolution, Battlefield 3 won’t be upscaled, instead, there will be two small black bars (over 8px high) at the top and bottom of the screen. If the image was scaled, it would “just ruin the picture”, said Andersson on his Twitter account.
With the game 16 horizontal lines short of a true high-definition, will you be contemplating to shrugs off Battlefield 3 and moves on with other military shooter, like MW3?

Andrew Bryant, you really ought to do your research if you want any credibility as a writer.
MW3 and every other CoD game aren’t true HD but upscaled. The Halo games are up-scaled too and because of screen overlap on most TV’s you won’t see the 16 pixels missing.
Furthermore, don’t say “over 8px high” trying to imply it’s more. Pathetic piece of bias right there to lean people towards MW3,

Wow, I hope this guy realizes that CoD runs at 600p, which is complete trash compared to 704p..I guess that’s what you get for using a 4 YEAR OLD ENGINE.

Ha! Haha! Yeah, I’m just going to change my mind and play the same game I have 3 other copies of. Bf3 is still going to be amazing, it’s still going to look great, and I trust the people at DICE because they’re badasses. MW3 is not going to be 720p either…

Ok… first of all… i’ve played MW2, Black Ops, and BF:BC2. I will admit that COD was very good in both graphics and gameplay, but BF is also is a great game none the less, I enjoyed playing BF as much as playing COD. And I seriously don’t know what you are talking about that BF uses a helicopter and tank to get kills. COD also has helicopter kills. Why are you all persistent to make one game look better than the other? Just get both, play both, and whichever one you prefer you can play that more! But don’t start comparing two great games that haven’t even been released yet! And even when they do get released try to respect other people’s opinions of what they think is nice for them! If I like BF then I like BF, I’m not forcing you to play and love BF and telling you to trash your COD game!

What, are you saying because it’s not true HD, MW3 is better?
Also research a bit and you won’t get negative comments. MW3 is running at a lower resolution than BF3 for their “superior 60 fps”. Unless you’re playing on a PC, which is always better.
