We all know that despite being an handheld, Sony’s PlayStation Vita is a graphical powerhouse but can it outperforming current generation home consoles, Xbox 360 and PS3?
First we need to look at Vita’s output resolution which is just 960×544 to a 5″ OLED Screen, more than enough to deliver high-definition experiences with it’s portability. So that alone could match what the current consoles would offer.
Then, we are looking at the textures, with better amount of (512MB) RAM and 128MB VRAM in the handheld we could turn that around slightly more than PS3 and Xbox 360.
If video game developers can squeeze, maximize the tech specs in it, they could end up competing what the bigger consoles had been delivering all this time.
All in all, it should be noted that we are comparing an handheld with a much bigger home consoles. So, whatever we put here probably wouldn’t matter much, but who doesn’t want an experience like that in a smaller devices?
PlayStation Vita comes in two variants, the WiFi model priced at $249 while WiFi + 3G is at $299. The handheld is expected to hit the shelves next year in western markets.

it’s doubtful it will outperform the 360 or ps3…but looking at the specs it should come close…probably similar to the way the psp performed compared to the ps2

Sony has already said because of the screen size and resolution. the psv is on par with ps3 360. fact is the device can run lost planet 2 and mgs4 at almost the same quality. to back that up with a actual game. uncharted golden abyss is almost as good as drakes fortune. but drakes fortune came out 2 years after ps3 launched, and golden abyss isn’t even being developed by naughty dog. ps vita probably wont outperform graphically, but will be pretty close. that has already been proven. vt4, ucga, wo 2048 etc

..but PSV is a 4 core CPU and 360 is only a 3 core CPU.That extra core and slightly smaller resolution will allow it smack down the 360 but not sure about the PS3 with it’s 8 core Cell processor. FFXIII looks awfeul on 360 compared to PS3.

Of course PS3 is more powerful than Vita.
PS3 has 3D games and 3D Blu-Ray, 1080p, 320GB HDD.
The reason why Vita has 512MB RAM and separate 128mb VRAM is because of dual camera and touch capabilities plus its running on smaller screen 1/4 of the PS3 can run.
This goes the same with PS2 and PSP. Graphics are on par but not the same quality. Smaller screen means lower resolution but crisp looking.

i dont think a handheld console can outperform the ps3 or xbox 360, come on i dont think the 512 mb ram of such a small device will be comparable to the same amount of ram in an actual console, just like the difference between a laptop and desktop

According to me FIRST I think that PS Vita is the best…….Cause i have PS Vita.Secondly PS 3 is good cause it has wireless controller and built in 3D.One thing i dont like Of XBOX,we have to put the battery and even the shape of xbox360 is not good…………….
