Even Squenix couldn’t help themselves with Apple’s revolutionary touch-based tablet that they decided to create cabinet-style arcade to play Space Invaders a classic 1978′s game. Oh, and they called it Invadercade.
You can put any iPad or iPad 2 and they will slide right into the Invadercade like a dock, and then enthusiasts can use the arcade stick and button to play Space Invaders HD, which is available on the App Store for $4.99.
The cabinet also introduces an internal amp and speakers so that the game sounds are amplified when slotted into the cabinet.
It also features a volume knob and headphone jack if you’d prefer.
Since the cabinet is powered off mains power, the Invadercade also doubles as a nice dock and can be used to charge your tablet or play music and videos at an increased volume.

If you are interested, the tiny cabinet should make a significant hole in your pocket as the price for one set (excluding the iPads of course) is around $230 and will launch later this year – and you’ll have to download the actual Space Invaders game separately off the App Store.
Square Enix said that the cabinet is a faithful recreation of the original 1978 upright Space Invaders arcade game cabinet from Taito just scaled down to a smaller build.
