Letting customers be your beta testers seems to have become quite popular as of late. Shortly after its release on the 11th, Skyrim’s official forums had a user complaining about the game glitching up and crashing, not responding, and other general problems stemming from the large filesize of the savefile. Read the thread itself here. It’s quite disgraceful that bugs that can crop up and break the game appear on the very first day of release, as opposed to showing up months or even years later when testing it would be unreasonable.
Bethesda stated yesterday that they are working on a patch to correct a collection of issues and other problems that have popped up. Even if they make very good games, their engine is stricken with quite a handful of bugs and errors which can break the game if done right. This exact same issue was also on the latest console ports of the Fallout games, meaning this is an engine issue.
I cannot believe a modern console as powerful as the PS3 can’t handle dealing with 6MB of data on its harddrive.
