Want to play Skyrim, but your PC can’t handle it as well as it should? Well you might want to give this mod a try from the creators of ICEnhancer which makes a noticeable decrease to the system requirements needed to run the game.
The patch doesn’t modify the game itself or any game files, meaning it can be deleted at any time and without consequence if it doesn’t work for you. Installing it is as simple as extracting the files to the same folder as TES5.exe, and making sure EVGA, Afterburn, and XFire Tools aren’t running to avoid problems. After this, just start the game with the launcher so the video options can be reconfigured.
The latest version fixes some graphical bugs and some BSOD and black screen issues that were in the previous versions. Definitely worth putting to the test if you want smoother frames per second and less slowdown during the game.
If that doesn’t help and you don’t mind slightly-lower graphics, another patch that might be worth giving a try. This mod reduces the textures used in Skyrim to half the size and thus the amount of memory the game uses by a good few hundred megabytes of memory. The difference between the graphics is barely noticeable but the performance definitely is.
As always, back up any files, especially save and configuration files, before modding anything on a game, as even a texture mod can cause major problems if something goes horribly wrong. Read the instructions like it was a Bible handed to you by Jesus himself and follow them to the letter.
