Platinum Games after getting a hold of Metal Gear Rising completely rebooted the story from scratch, as they saved the project after it was completely cancelled. According to a tweet from Hideo Kojima, the game now runs as a silky 60fps.
Kojima had asked Platinum Games to have a Raiden that moves at 60fps, controls well, and looks good. He said that the original Rising project was “very Metal Gear”, and had some complex controls that the series was known for.
As for the big deal on FPS, allow me to explain it. FPS means Frames Per Second, and it’s how many finished animations are rendered every second. Many games play at 30, 50, or 60FPS depending on the region or performance needed. Some games run at 30fps due to being very graphic-intensive and need to be toned down in the FPS department.
The difference between the FPS rates is very noticeable when you go from one to the other, and it’s an improvement to where you can never go back to the previous one. In short, Metal Gear Rising will look smooth, play smooth, and be smooth in its graphics and gameplay.
