Aion will be free-to-play in Europe starting next February. They have partnered with German publisher Gameforge to ensure a smooth transition.
For new players that come in after the change, there are minor restrictions which you can unlock by purchasing a Gold package. All classes, quests, instances and zones are free to all players.
