SCE bosses Kaz Hirai and Andy House were on hand at the PlayStation Vita launch to greet day one customers.
Over 600 people were waiting in line at Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara to be among the first to own the system. Sony has reportedly increased shipment from 500,000 to 700,000 in Japan to accommodate walk in customers.
Among the launch titles were, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, F1 2011, Katamari Damacy just to name a few.
The Vita will launch in Europe and the US on February 22.
