For whatever reason, Square Enix has not scored a homerun with the last few main releases in the Final Fantasy series.
According to GamesMaster UK, in conjunction with Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary, Square Enix will be announcing the next entry in the franchise at next year’s E3.
It is being developed for all the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 as well as the Wii U and PC.
Their latest entry; Final Fantasy XIII-2 was just released in Japan recently and has sold over 524,217 copies in its opening week, way down compared to the prequel which sold 1,501,964. These numbers are only for the PlayStation 3.
Thanks, Gameranx.
