This new fan-made Pokemon game will be titled Generation 0 and will be released as a ROM-hack. Players will take control of a young Agatha or Oak in at time where the Pokedex was not filled and trainers were commonplace.

In an interview with PikiGeek, head developer Jake Lupton gives us more details about the project.

Instead of catching Pokemons, you will try to befriend them or fight them and there would be about only 100 Pokemons available.

In the original concept, it was said players would be drawing Pokemons that they caught and players will need to make their own primitive version of the Pokeball from Apricorns. Jake said that they will be restricted in certain aspects, “Certainly we are restricted with some things, like the drawing aspect and old style pokéballs”

“Well, a full release of the rom hack is a while away (most likely mid to late next year). But a v0.01 will be out soon” he added.

I play all types of games. Born in the late 80's and grew up on Atari and Sega. Misses Saturday morning cartoons and good music. Currently studying journalism.
