Powershot G1 X is a new family member to Canon G Series. It looks like Canon didn’t give much attention in interchangeable lens compact camera. However, this camera is good enough to compete with Olympus Pen E-PL3 and other interchangeable lens compact cameras.
The price announced at $799.99, this camera provide much more video function compare to Powershot G12. This camera is also the first compact camera from Canon that feature a large 4:3 aspect, 14.3 megapixel CMOS sensor (18.7mm x 14mm, similar to APS-C sensors). Powershot G1 X feature the same pixel size and structure as Canon EOS 600D, making it a small (not really small) awesome camera with a DLSR sensor.
Canon also claimed that they sell optional 40 meter waterproof case for Powershot G1 X.
