Watch Crytek’s GDC trailer of their AAA free-to-play shooter, Warface

Crytek released a new trailer at GDC for their upcoming shooter, Warface. The Crysis developer is calling it a AAA freemium shooter.

The trailer focuses on four playable classes namely, Rifleman, Engineer, Medic and Sniper (the team’s creative juices were definitely flowing when naming the classes).

Its a modern day shooter in the same vein with Call of Duty and Battlefield and the trailer definitely showed some resemblance to those AAA titles but its certainly disappointing to be getting another generic shooter.

Crytek is most known for the Crysis series which features a soldier in a futuristic power suit, a free-to-play shooter that features a power suit would definitely have been more exciting although they do have a mech at the end.

The game is being developed using CryENGINE 3 and will be released later this year. You can sign up for the closed beta at the game’s site.
