Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, spent Saint Patrick’s Day in style.
She wore a green coat that was adorned with a gold shamrock brooch that was once owned by the late Queen Mother, which marked her first solo engagement for the military.
Kate handed out many shamrocks to members of the 1st Battalion. Kate also handed out a sprig to the guards mascot, an Irish wolf hound named Conmeal.
After Kate was done handing out shamrocks, she enjoyed the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and then drank Irish cream with the soldiers in the mess hall before the festivities ended.
The tradition of handing out shamrocks was first started in 1901. This year Kate took over for the Queen, who had previously done it.
