Dip dye is not a fresh idea. However only now, it finally blows to Asian countries. This big hit starts with hair, but will not end like that. Be innovative to dip-dye everything around you: shirt, jacket, trouser, bag, scarf, shoes and anything you can think of.
“What is Dip Dye?”
It is kind of dyeing effect, from one color to another color, with different tone combinations. You can do it to an extreme extent or play safe with ombre (French for shaded) hair only. There are two choices too: sharp dip which makes the end hair color obviously different to the rest and subtle dip which is hue gradation. The advantage, compared to whole hair dying, is you can cut off the hair end whenever you dislike the new color. Yet, you have to face bleaching which will cause damage to your natural hair in order to have a better outcome.

“Does it look good?”
Depends is the answer. Some accept it as a cool trend while some reject it as disgusting hair-do. Do remember that trend comes and goes. From darker to lighter shade, subtle dip somehow may look as a failure of hair dyeing. Choose contradict color combination, such as brown and pink, needs your courage. Be bold to try it does not harm others. Your parents say yes, your friends compliment you and strangers do not give their weird eyes on you. Then, it is a trend for you but not a sure for everyone.
“Do Western and Asian make a difference?”
Yes, many Western fashion stars has started this such as Kate Bosworth, Lauren Conrad and Dakota Fanning. But, Asians tend to be more conservative in modelling this. Skin color normally plays a crucial role in defining what hair color you should have. Similar goes to dip dyeing. There is not a rule to say that it suits only blond. Pick up the right color, dip dye can be whoever’s favorite. Besides, it only touches your hair end if you do not wish to dye the top part to other colors. So, it will not matter much with skin colors.

“What hair length is suitable for dip dye?”
It just likes a preteen girl asking: “When can I dye hair?”. Unless you are bald, you can do dip dye anytime you want to. It applies to any hair length.

“Are there fashion brands hit by dip dye?”
Yes, as wrote earlier, you can dip dye each and every thing. Looking at the below picture (via Trendtation and Blue is in Fashion This Year), Zara, Topshop and so on are inspired by this trend as well. Denim does better in this because it is more resistant with the graduated coloration. The hit only begins now since it is from Dries Van Noten SS-2011 show.
