Cell phones are extremely popular among middle and high schoolers. It is one way to keep in contact with them before and after school, around activities, at friends houses and more.
And it helps them stay in touch with friends,etc. The question for some parents becomes, when do you get the first cell phone? There are parents who get children a cell phone as young as 4 and 5 years old.
Many would overwhelmingly argue that that is too young. But it is just a very basic phone. Why do parents initially get their child a phone?
If your child (usually a teen or pre-teen) is doing a lot of activities, or any activity where they are not with you they need a way to contact you. That is part of where a cell phone comes in.
If there is an emergency at school or somewhere else where they need to contact you or 911, that is another good reason for a cell phone. These are all good reasons to get your child a cell phone.
