Tsunami alert for India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Bangladesh

An earthquake of 8.7 magnitude happened off the coast of Indonesia on Wednesday, alerting citizens there and in India as well as other countries dashing out of their homes and offices in fear. A tsunami warning has been given out for the whole Indian Ocean.

A tsunami warning for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was alerted in India. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Service issued a red high-level warning for the islands, and also put out lower alerts for the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu states in the southeast of the country.

The Pacific tsunami warning centre has said that the tsunami alert for 28 countries remains in effect, and has also mention that a 17cm wave is heading towards Aceh, which is not very big. However the speed of the wave is not yet known.
